For many rural communities, delivering temperature-sensitive medical supplies isn’t just a logistical hurdle—it’s about accessing basic, and fundamental needs. Elemental’s support gives us the ability to focus on solutions that bridge these gaps, and that establish a scalable model for communities throughout the country. Healthcare access in rural areas continues to lag behind urban centers, with 66 percent of Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) located in rural communities. The consequences of this disparity are stark: in rural areas, the age-adjusted death rate is 20 percent higher than in urban areas.
Addressing this requires innovative, scalable solutions that directly tackle the challenges of healthcare delivery in underserved areas. Artyc is helping by supporting healthcare delivery at clinical sites, hospitals, and even patients’ homes through battery-powered, active shippers. Designed to transport critical medical products and patient samples, our shippers help ensure that temperature-sensitive goods arrive safely and with minimal environmental impact.
One standout example is the Medstow Micro, which combines precision temperature control with real-time track-and-trace visibility to reduce spoilage. As a reusable solution, the Medstow Micro also eliminates the need for single-use packaging, reducing environmental waste while maintaining the integrity of sensitive medical supplies.
With Elemental’s help, we’re focused on scaling these solutions to make them even more accessible to healthcare providers in remote areas, where more than 30 percent of rural hospitals are at risk of closure. By delivering smarter cold chain technology, we’re mitigating delays, preventing losses, and improving patient outcomes.
One of the ways that we’re demonstrating the impact of our technology is through our work with Sprinter Health. Together, we’re showcasing how a resilient cold chain can expand the number of patients that Sprinter Health can treat.
